Energy production

In Switzerland, with optimal tilt and orientation, solar irradiation reaches approximately 1000 to 1500 kWh/m2 a year. Electricity production is approx. 130 kWh/m2 a year.

It is possible to satisfy a part of if not the total electrical needs of an average household, estimated at around 4000 kWh a year.

This data has been calculated for crystalline modules (mono- and multicrystalline) in Switzerland.

For thin-film modules, efficiency is lower but this is not so important if the available surface is large. Approximately, surface area values have to be doubled to obtain the same installed power and annual energy production.
